Many lowering springs on the market today simply lower your vehicle and give a false sense of improvement by feeling overly stiff. We took a different approach with our design. We extensively track and street tested several iterations to deliver a system that not only makes your MK8 Golf R look great, but does so while delivering a comfortable experience that doesn't constantly crash and bottom out the dampers. Through a proper ride height configuration, we're able to greatly increase spring rates for improved handling, but do so without leaving the ride harsh, bouncy, and uncomfortable. APR SUS00017 Roll-Control Lowering Springs are engineered for the 2022-2026 Volkswagen Golf R MK8 to improve stance, handling, and driver confidence without creating an unnecessarily harsh ride. Developed through extensive track and street testing, this spring system increases spring rates while maintaining a comfortable driving experience. The result is a more planted Golf R with reduced body roll, a lower center of gravity, and improved response through corners. The springs are designed for vehicles equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) as well as vehicles using non-DCC original-equipment dampers.
APR uses high-tensile chrome silicon steel to help resist sagging and long-term failure. The dual-rate design transitions into a single-rate linear spring during loaded operation, supporting consistent performance during spirited driving while helping prevent excessive damper bottoming on the street. The system lowers the front approximately 0.83 inches and the rear approximately 0.94 inches on DCC-equipped applications, giving the MK8 Golf R a more aggressive and balanced appearance. A durable red powder-coated finish helps protect the springs from corrosion.
These APR lowering springs provide direct plug-and-play installation and are made in the USA. For maximum handling performance and comfort, APR recommends combining the SUS00017 spring set with APR Bumpstops, part number SUS00025. Center-of-wheel-to-fender measurements were recorded on APR's in-house U.S.-specification 2022 Volkswagen Golf R DCC test vehicles, so actual results may vary slightly based on vehicle configuration and condition. Designed specifically for the U.S.-specification MK8 Golf R, the springs may also fit other similar-platform vehicles. Professional installation and alignment are recommended after installation.
