When a door opens, the PowerStep XL automatically extends to provide a stable, convenient stepping surface. Its lower step position offers approximately 3 inches of additional drop compared with the standard AMP Research PowerStep, making it easier to enter and exit vehicles with lifted suspensions. When the doors close, the boards retract beneath the rocker panels to help preserve ground clearance and maintain a streamlined appearance.
