Cometic Mazda Miata 1.6L 80mm .045 inch MLS Head Gasket B6D Motor

Comprised of multiple embossed layers of stainless steel with the outer layers utilizing a Viton rubber coating. Compressed operating thickness is 0.045". Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Head Gaskets provide maximum sealing performance for todays high output engines and require no sealants. MLS gaskets are ideal for both aluminum heads to aluminum blocks and aluminum heads to cast iron blocks. They can withstand the shearing force created by the two materials. MLS gaskets have increased strength because they are comprised of multiple layers of stainless steel; which also creates the ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton (a flour elastomer rubber based material that is heat resistant to 250 C/ 482 F). Viton is designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes. The center or shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements. Mazda B6D/B6T/B6ZE .045in. MLS Cylinder Head Gasket; 80mm Bore
  • The embossed outer layers of the gaskets meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes
  • The center or shim layer is an uncoated stainless steel layer which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements
  • Requires less clamp load creating less bore distortion
  • Conforms load distribution across the sealing area
  • Coated On Both Sides w/Viton

The Cometic Gasket Mazda Miata 1.6L .045 inch MLS head gasket is engineered for high-performance engines requiring a reliable and durable seal. Made with multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, this gasket features outer layers coated with Viton rubber, providing excellent resistance to extreme heat and harsh sealing conditions. The compressed operating thickness of 0.045 inches ensures optimal fit and sealing performance for your Mazda Miata, enhancing engine efficiency and longevity. The multi-layer steel design offers increased strength and flexibility, allowing it to withstand shearing forces between aluminum heads and cast iron blocks, making it suitable for a variety of engine configurations. The outer layers' embossed design improves load distribution and conformability to surface irregularities, which helps reduce bore distortion and ensures a tight seal under demanding conditions. The center shim layer, made of uncoated stainless steel, can be customized to meet specific thickness requirements, providing versatility for engine rebuilds or modifications. The Viton coating on both sides of the gasket enhances heat resistance up to 482°F, making it ideal for high-output applications and demanding environments. Installation requires less clamp load, which minimizes bore distortion and promotes uniform load distribution across the sealing surface, resulting in improved sealing integrity and engine performance. This gasket is designed specifically for 80mm bore engines and fits select Mazda models from 1988 to 1993, including the Mazda Miata and Mazda 323, ensuring a precise and secure fit for your rebuild or upgrade project.
